Another Raptr report for another month. Raptr.com published its November most-played PC games list yesterday. MMOs did well. The Warlords of Draenor expansion has seen World of Warcraft rise to #2 on the list. Raptr's press release says that "The MMO’s monthly play time was up 71% over October." Although WoW "likely” drew from League of Legends numbers, it wasn't able to replace the MOBA's top position. ArcheAge playtime dropped by 39.97%, but World of Tanks (and Final Fantasy XIV) had an increase in their playtime. Raptr reports that Guild Wars 2 rose in rank but lost playing time in November over October. SWTOR dropped two spots from October. Raptr roundups have the caveat that they only represent Raptr users on PC. Certain MMO studios also increase Raptr numbers by offering in-game rewards. The games might not release information about their player base, so you might think of this as the next best indicator of popularity other than touring the servers. [Source: Raptr press release, which we've included below] Most Played PC Games: November 2014 -- Dragon Age and Call of Duty debut, World of Warcraft resurgent Dragon Age: Inquisition and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare debuted in the top ten list of most played games this month. World of Warcraft's newest expansion has given the ten-year-old MMO an upsurge and Spider Solitaire was a surprise to make it back into the top 20 after a gap of more than a year. The culprits know who they are. Highlights League of Legends maintained its top spot in November, despite losing 15.88 percent of its playing time in comparison to October. Following the sale on Halloween it reached its peak in the middle of the month. Although gameplay was stable for most of the month, there were a few delays due to the 4.20 update. World of Warcraft's Warlords of Draenor likely took time away from LoL and other major games. The monthly playtime of the MMO was up 71.3 percent compared to October. As was expected, the daily play time was impacted by the expansion as well as the game's ten-year anniversary events. It roughly doubled after Draenor's launch and remained strong until November. The rest of the top five games weren't as lucky. DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Smite saw an increase in hours. Smite beat ArcheAge for the fifth position. While DOTA 2 and CS:GO both suffered double-digit declines (12.49% and 11.59% respectively), Smite was down less than 1. Archeage was down by 39.97 percent while Smite has made a modest rise in the rankings. The downward trend continued with Minecraft (-11.70%), Diablo III (down almost 45 percent -we blame WoW for this), and Hearthstone (-13.11%), although we expect a rebound to come in December thanks to Goblins vs Gnomes). Chart newcomer Dragon Age: Inquisition made an impressive debut in November's Most PlayedChart, landing in tenth place despite a late November release. World of Tanks saw a lower playtime however it managed to gain 7.72% more play time than October. Although the WGLNA Gold League Qualifying Rounds were held throughout the month, play was the highest on Thanksgiving weekend due to XP multipliers, holiday deals on premium products, and Thanksgiving weekend.I love Final Fantasy XIV saw a 20.97 percent increase in the amount of time played. This could be due to the release of the Game of the Year edition, which offered 60 additional days of adventure (plus the previously released content), in late October and early November. Mid-month DDOS attacks, which caused login difficulties however, did not have a significant impact on play time. Warframe and Guild Wars 2 each rose in ranking despite losing playtime in November, compared to October. Warframe hosted an event called Movember community event that resulted in the setting of a Guinness World Record. Guild Wars 2's Tangled Path content has been released with new areas, items including skins, a variety of items, as with other features. Call of Duty: Advance Warfare - always more of a console juggernaut - launched in November and based upon current trends we may not have it on the list of December's Most Played. For the first time since October 2013, Spider Solitaire made its way back into Most Played. It turns out that Thanksgiving isn't just about turkey, football and fighting with family members - it's also about Solitaire. The 27th of November was the hottest day for Solitaire game play. Note: The Share number for each game is the amount of time played on that title by Raptr members. It is useful to assess the play time between different games.
