When I first met the developers making Deepworld, a 2D Sandbox-style game of building similar to Minecraft at GDC in March, I told them that the project would be bigger than they had imagined. Although they have years of experience in the development of software and servers, running a large game like Deepworld requires significant investment. They appear to have reached an agreement. Kickstarter was established to raise funds in the early stages of development and servers. The group is offering a wide range of prizes to its supporters, including your own servers and worlds as well as art books and other swag. You also have the option of purchasing your own items, names, and even images for the game. MUNDO'S BLOG The goal is to raise US$20,000 all in all as of this writing, the group has raised around $4,000. They are planning to make the project a full-time job and this money will enable them to do that.memes rain I wish them all the best. Deepworld looks good and, as I stated when I first saw it I think the Mac (and iOS) would benefit from a game like this.
