Markus "Notch" Persson is most well-known as the creator behind Minecraft However, he's rapidly developing a reputation for eccentric games that cover everything from speed typing to existential drama. Cliffhorse, his latest title is evidence enough. It's absurd as the title suggests. You play a horse that pushes a massive rock ball across cliffs. But that nebulous design (which took all of two hours to build) is really the point. Persson describes the Windows-only game as a smackdown at developers who misuse early access programs by charging for "minimum effort" releases, in which the majority of the content theoretically comes later. He's also aware of the irony, given that he billed for Minecraft even before it was finished. If the absurdity of the project was not evident, Notch will only accept voluntary Dogecoin donations for payment. Cliffhorse can be downloaded completely free of charge, if you wish. It's a good thing that there's no real profit model, as there's also "no guarantee of future updates." You might not be a fan of Persson's parody to send him virtual money. But, the launch might be beneficial if it convinces some developers to do some effort before asking gamers to pay. @bonzrat Two hours in Unity Boom.
