When setting up the Minecraft server there's lots of options. This guide covers how to create a Survival Multiplayer Server with no mods. We will be adding additional guides to help you set up a server with mods in the future. Create a Vanilla Survival Multiplayer Server (MSP) These steps will get you an online Minecraft Java server in no time. 1. Download and install Java You can download the most recent version of Java from Oracle. 2. Download the official Minecraft Server This is minecraft.net's download page. 3. Create an appropriate folder for your Minecraft server The folder can be named and located anyplace you'd like. It should be easy to find and simple. I like to call minecraft server the folder and place it in my User/Home folder. 4. Install your Minecraft server folder Move your downloaded server.jar file into the minecraft folder. Windows Create a new file named run.bat Windows Create a batch file (.bat). On MacOS or Linux Create a new file named run.sh. Edit your new file and set the text to be 5.
