We have seen a rise in videogames using the creation of content in game as their main mode. While there are books that have studied a variety of aspects of these games, it is important to study the possible ways to make money that be derived from their context. Top minecraft servers Top minecraft servers Our findings highlight the three principal players in this market: the customers, who own Minecraft servers as well as the contractors who handle the clients' requests for Minecraft maps and the builders who are the ones responsible for the creation of said maps. Our research has shown that the product in question is not in-game content as one might think, but rather the service of creating it. These findings show that the current structure of Minecraft is influenced by commissioning, a well-organised process initiated and sustained only by the community that plays the game. Additionally they challenge the notion that the creation of content in gaming environments is a free-labor process that is exploited by developers of those games.
