Raspbian is installed on your Raspberry Pi. This will allow you to find Minecraft Pi under the Games section. Minecraft servers list Minecraft Pi is a stripped-down version of the well-known survival game. It's designed to teach users various programming languages. Sure, it's fun, but it's not the Minecraft game we've come to recognize and love. A group of Raspberry Pi users has figured out how you can install Minecraft full-featured on your Raspberry Pi 2, or 3. There's plenty to edit and tweaking using files and Terminal commands, just like everything Raspberry Pi. Make sure you take your time, and read through each step and you'll be good to go. Be aware that before you dive in there are some important things you need to know: You'll require your Mojang account login information and your Minecraft username. You'll need an active Minecraft license. You can buy one at Minecraft.net This guide is for Minecraft 1.8.9. However, with a small modification you can run the most current version, currently 1.9.4 (more about this later). Playing Minecraft on a $35-priced computer isn't going be the smoothest experience, but it's certainly playable. Plan on spending an hour getting everything set up and running. I would suggest opening this guide on the browser on your Raspberry Pi with the Terminal window beside it. You'll need to download altered log files from Dropbox. minecraft servers I do not want to publish the commands here only to see them altered later. The procedure is easy it requires you to copy and paste Terminal commands from the browser, and then paste them into the command line. After you've pasted each command you press enter on the keyboard and your Pi does the rest. Tips to make the process as smooth as possible Here are some tips I came up with to make the process go as smoothly as it can: Raspberry Pi 3 users are exempted from Step 1. You are currently unable to overclock the Pi 3. Besides it, the Pi 3 is actually faster out of the box than the recommended overclock speed of the Pi 2. After you have completed Step 4, press the arrow keys to highlight Advanced options. Next highlight GL Options and select Enable. Step 7 in the guide was confusing to me. It says click "edit profile", but you actually have to click Profile Editor and then double-click the first list. Under Version Selection click on the drop-down next to Use version and choose a build number. Remember, the default is 1.8.9. At present, we recommend using this version, and we can alter it once everything is working. Step 10 tells you to edit the "run.sh" file, without any additional instructions. Open the Minecraft folder inside your Pi directory, right-click on the run.sh file and select Text Editor. There are two ways to launch Minecraft. The guide will tell you to use "./run.sh" in Terminal to launch Minecraft. However, prior to entering the command you'll need to type "cd Minecraft" into a Terminal window. Minecraft servers list Another option is to open Minecraft folder and double-click on the run.sh file. Then, click "Execute." Install the most current version Once you have everything working, you can start tinkering with the installation. To upgrade to the latest Minecraft version, you'll need to relaunch Minecraft.jar. In a Terminal window enter the following command:"cd" Minecraft Next, enter: java -jar Minecraft.jar Click on Profile Editor to change the version to 1.9.4 or the latest version. Save your changes, and then click the Play button to force Minecraft to download the latest version. Next then, open the Minecraft folder. To avoid any problems if you make a mistake, take two-seconds and make a copy of the run.sh file. Rename it to something along the lines of "runcopy.sh". Make sure you have a copy of the file. Then, right-click it and choose Text Editor. Enter 1.8.9 into the text field by pressing Ctrl+F on your keyboard. There should be twoonly twoinstances discovered. Replace each of them with the latest version of Minecraft (this must be the same version number you selected in step 3). Save the file and restart your Raspberry Pi. Start Minecraft as normal and then enjoy.
